Lucky President Bush
14 december 2008 America President Bush was on a secret visit to Iraq to bid farewell . During a press conference an Iraqi reporter among the audience suddenly threw a pair of his shoes at him 6 metre away .Luckily shoes and not something else. The accident just scared him ..he was not hurt but this could be a good warning for the new president to consider his new policy onthe following:
1. Reduce the Muslim hatred for americans
2. Change military policy. A powerful military action may change a country's political power but can not change the thinking of its people.
3. Increase America's military power in Afghanistan is another worthless war !,

12月14日，美国总统布什秘密告别访问伊拉克时，在记者招待会上被一个伊拉克电视台记者扔了两双鞋子。
当时这名记者距离布什只有6公尺左右，如果他扔的不是鞋子，那布什总统的生命便不堪设想了！
可幸这场意外只是有惊无险，但新的美国总统也许会得到下列几点启示：
1、 如何减少回教徒对美国人的仇恨？
2、 强大的军事行动，可能会改变一个国家的政权，但改变不了其 人民的思想。
3、 增兵阿富汗可能又是一场得不偿失的战争！

You have made sweeping statements without offering pathforwards:
1)Reduce hatreds of Muslims against the US.How and what are your ideas?Muslims not only hate the US but also some Europeans.The Muslims in Indonesians and Philippines are also targetting Singapore and Malaysia.
2)Change military policies?How and what are your ideas around maintaining world peace without any country being compromised?Do not forget that China is a rising superpower whose future intentions are yet to be known.Now,it is considering sending a naval task force to Somalia to combat the pirates.This is welcome move.But it shows that China will project its naval power to ensure a uninterrupted flows of strategic resoures needed for its economic development.Will China be a peaceful superpower in the future?
3)Afganistan's war is worthless.what is your ideas around ensuring that Muslims radicalism will not continue to cause havoc in the world?

America spend over 400 billions and sacrificed more then 4000 lifes
on Iraq war end up with the Iraqi shoes slam on President Hush face.

Your blog is supposed to "help" USA in its foreign policy.You should give the US specific proposals or policies that she should follow to improve her world standing.
If what you say is true,then you should advise China to reduce her defense expenditure which is growing at 10% each year according to Fareed Zakaria in his book,"The Post American World".
The shoe was thrown a Iraqi journalist.Does this mean that the majority of Iraqi is against the US for deposing Saddam Hussein?

MM Lee is more careful than just giving "principled" advice without sound basis.What we know is what we
have read in the newspapers but more are said and dsicussed in his meetings with world leaders.
I am sure you agree that all countries need to spend on defense.The issue is what it does with its armed forces.
The US used its armed forces to remove Saddam Hussien.This can be considered a mistake but the jury is still out.
Defense spending is more meaningful compared to a country's GDP rather than on absolute value because of differing GDP's.
For example,S'pore defense spending is 4.7% of GDP and US's is 3.8% of its GDP.Based on your logic,Singapore is not promoting peace and more aggressive than US and China.
You are predicting that Afgan war will be worst than Iraq.What are your reasons for this statement?
